Toshiba TV will produce a Taiwanese company Compal Electronics

A few days ago a major Japanese electronics, energy and medical equipment, Toshiba announced that it would stop developing and selling TVs in North America. The license for the business is transferred to Taiwan’s Compal Electronics, which plans to deliver products to the North American market very soon – from March 2015.

Also, top management Toshiba said that the same trend will apply to the TV business in other regions. So, own development and sales of TVs will be replaced by licensed brands. An exception will only native Japanese market. The company is currently in talks with candidates for these licenses, which should be completed in April of this year. From that moment, a new principle of operation enters into force.

For a long time, Toshiba is trying to compete in the North American TV market. She is one of the first to introduce a model with large screens and Smart TV with cloud services. Also, in order to stay afloat in this segment, management has taken steps, and reduce the number of workers. But in the face of fierce competition and slow growth of the world market, even these measures have not yielded the desired results, and the company decided to change the concept of its TV business.

The main income for the nine months, the company has received due to energy and infrastructure divisions, which includes nuclear energy systems, electronic devices, including a memory chip. Also, the rise in sales for Toshiba was recorded in the health sector.
