Cooler Master Company announced sales of the new cooler – Cooler Master GeminII S524 Ver. 2, more compact ideological heir of the monstrous original GeminII, designed for installation of two (!) 120 mm fans. The novelty is not so cumbersome and uses a single fan with size 120 × 25. The noise level produced by this fan does not exceed 22 dBA.
It is made in the form factor “fan from above”, which provides air cooling of the components of the motherboard, including quite hot power elements of the power subsystem of CPU. Radiator in the new version of the cooler is L-shaped and, although it may block the DIMM slots, but are not limited by the modules themselves, which should be put into the system before installing the cooler.
At a height of only 105 mm Cooler Master GeminII S524 is suitable for owners of the majority of narrow (or low) cases. Five heat pipes with direct contact technology ensure the efficient heat removal even from the hottest processors, except maybe the extreme models of AMD FX. Of course, the new cooler is compatible with virtually all processor sockets available on the market, including LGA 2011-3, LGA 1366, FM 2+ and even long-outdated LGA 775. It costs about $45.
